It was such a warm day when I had a chance to meet Laura, her husband and their fabulous dog. And after a long (and rainy) winter, the golden rays of sun and the warm touch of the almost spring air were a wonderful combination.  I was so thankful to finally be out in short sleeves!

And I was even more thankful when Laura agreed to meet me at the top of one of my favorite fields in Concord.  It’s eye opening for me to capture couples, especially couples as in love and happy as these two.  Seeing two people who are comfortable and content with each other makes my heart sing, and it reminds me why I do what I do.

Thank you Laura for trusting me to capture sweet Molly.  Even if it meant climbing a mountain.

I feel like I learned so much last week. I listened to some amazing people speak, and I was excited to put all that new information to use. With over 12,000 attendees at WPPI, I knew that I would need to get away from the masses if I actually wanted to meet people and get to know them. I took a chance and signed up for Scarlett Lillian’s bridal shoot in Red Rock Canyon. I mean, a bride, a groom, the desert – does it get any more fabulous? I think not.

About 15 of us boarded a mini bus and headed out just before sunset to get our shoot on. Erin and Gavin Wade, fellow photographers, bravely volunteered to be our models. (And By ‘bravely’, I mean rocked my socks off.) They were gorgeous and a blast to shoot. I ended up with well over 300 images that I just love, so these are merely a peak into the fabulouslness that was our desert session. I hope you like them as much as I do!

If you had asked me only a year ago if I’d feel this blessed today, I would have told you “no”. I would have told you that I had everything I needed in my life, and I couldn’t possibly be happier. But I had no idea. I was completely unaware that I was missing such a large part of me. Taking the leap of faith to start my business and take beautiful pictures was huge for me. I’m a chicken! I’m much more apt to just sit on the sidelines and watch the action than participate in it. But I can tell you that I’m so incredibly overwhelmed by the feelings of happiness I have now. I’m inspired, I’m courageous, I’m motivated. And I’m content.

WPPI was a wonderful experience and I’m incredibly glad I went. I was lucky enough to hear from Jasmine Star, John Micheal Cooper, Sallee, and Beth Forester. I was able to spend a few hours shooting with Scarlett Lilian. I was inspired by Jennifer Kloss. And I made some great friendships. I feel like ideas are gathering in my brain and the forward momentum I had only a week ago is exponentially faster now. I’m excited. And I can’t wait for the future.

If you ask me today how happy I’ll be in a year, I can only tell you I don’t know. I may be through the moon now, but I see so many wonderful things to come.

And because no post is as fun without pictures, here is the opening teaser from Jasmine Star’s talk on Monday night. She rocked it out!

Thanks to the wonders of technology, this post is appearing while I’m 30,000 feet in the air, on my way to Las Vegas.  (For geeky photography reasons. WPPI!) I couldn’t leave without just a little sneak peak at yesterday’s session.

Aren’t you excited about what’s to come!?  I am!

This little girl is a pretty lucky baby.  Her parents are funny, really funny.  The love they have for each other and for her already is indescribable.  And they may not be a baby out there whose parents are more excited to me her.

Kori and Brian met at a party in college and from the details I’ve heard, they knew almost immediately that they were meant for each other.  And really, I’m not sure I’ve met a couple more perfect for each other.  From the jokes they told to the stories one would start and the other would finish, they just had a way about them.  They were game for anything and everything I asked them to do, and never complained when I stuck them waist deep in wet grass.  (I love it when clients trust me!)  We dodged rain, dark clouds and freezing wind, but I am so excited about what we got.  And Kori, you are simply stunning.  You make a gorgeous pregnant lady!
Thank you Kori and Brien for being game for anything and everything. I had a blast in our makeshift flower patch.
