Archive for January, 2011

In my opinion, Mike may be one of the most romantic husbands around. He contacted me at the end of last year. His wife was pregnant with their first child and he wanted to surprise her with something special for Christmas. I LOVE it. I’m a big fan of gifts in general, but I was tickled to be a part of one.

6 days after little Quinn made her debut I headed out to the Oakland Hills to capture her lovely images. Mike and Jenny were expecting some calm, sleepy baby shots, but Quinn absolutely had other ideas. She was awake and feisty for the entire 3 and half hours I spent with her. Watch out Mike, I’m pretty sure Quinn won’t ever have a problem speaking her mind.

I love how much of her big personality we were able to capture.

There is something about a photo of crying babies that just melts my heart.  I promise we picked little Quinn up as soon as I snapped this capture.

And you look amazing Jenny, really and truly.  I wish I looked that good 6 days after giving birth!

I love every second of what I do.  And sometimes, I’m lucky enough to shoot something for no reason other than it inspires me.  Just because I like it.  I’m currently looking for 3-5 dancers to help me create some amazing images in the next 5 weeks.

Sometimes I’d rather enjoy the moment than compose a fancy picture.

To my wonderful, energetic, goofy, upbeat, precocious, huggable, adorable little boy – happy 2nd birthday.

I feel pretty luck to have met so many wonderful photographers in the last few years. There are some seriously fun people out there. Sia is as fabulous in person as she appears on her blog and I’m glad I know her.

If you’ll be at WPPI this year, come join Sia and I at the Airplanes and Blazers party. We’ll be raising the roof. While we pretend it’s 2001.

I did it!  I successfully beat 2010’s record.  Go me.

And for the record, I really, really love bath time.  Grayson has “photographer’s child” syndrome and bath time is one of the only times he comes a stationary target.

I’m so honored!  Do you remember this session?  Well, it was featured on The Inspired Bride, a fabulous website for all things wedding.  Some how with the craziness of this summer and my trip to Mexico, I never knew they picked it up.  You can read more of the story here.

I’m thrilled!

In 2010 I saw so many wonderful personal projects grace fellow photography blogs.  I wanted to do one.  Just call me a lemming, it’s ok, you know you want to.

After all of my excitement and anticipation to get started, I made it all the way to the end of week 1.  Yes, I did 1 week of photos out of 52 before life got the best of me.  The good news is, I only need to take two personal photos to do a better job in 2011. And I created a new blog category, so I’ll be really embarrassed if I don’t at least beat my personal best of 1 week.

I like projects that set me up for success.

This is Grayson in one of the rare moments when he’s not wreaking havoc on my living room.  I really do love a sleepy baby almost two year old.
