Today, on my birthday, I’m seeking inspiration. Each year, I look forward to growing and expanding as an artist. This is an ongoing project I started earlier this year and would love to continue!

A big thank you to Lauren with Every Last Detail for featuring Carey and Eric’s splendid destination wedding in Maine. Lauren’s blog is bursting with lovely wedding details and inspiring real weddings, I’m thrilled to be a part of it!

Last year, I had the incredible pleasure of shooting another photographer and her family. You may remember the session, because really, who doesn’t love a baby. In a basket.   (We all do, right?)

You can imagine my glee when Ashley contacted me for a mini session this year.  Now Karter is almost 2 and an absolute doll.  I adored getting to see her again.

And thank you Ashley for including the giant flower.  It was perfect!

Sometimes, the outtakes are the best part of the shoot. If you can let go of your control, and embrace the moment – be it silly, loving or sad – you may be surprised at the results. Both of these images are far from perfect. But I love them. And they both represent me.

These images are included on my feed as part of the ClickinMom’s Daily Project. You can see more lovely photographers on their site, here.

It always makes my heart happy when I get a call from a previous client. I feel like I get these amazing little glimpses into so many wonderful peoples’ lives and I always want to know how everyone is doing after our shoots. (To all my wonderful clients, I’m serious! Send me updates. I want to see your family grow, your babies start to walk, and any and all new pets that join your nest.)

You may remember Laura and Ross from their shoot with me last year. I was so incredibly excited to hear from Laura and thrilled for them that they were expecting a little girl. Getting to spend the morning with such wonderful new parents who are simply overwhelmed with love for their new child, exhausted, generally just in awe amazes me. Children are such a gift. And I’m reminded of their greatness every time I’m around them.

Lauren and Ross, thank you for allowing me into your family for a day. I truly enjoyed seeing you both so happy.

And of course the pups had to get in on the action.  Plus, I’m just a sucker for a cute, squishy dog face.

There is just something about how fabulous this girl and her family are. It could be the gorgeous red hair. It might be the cute clothes and fun jewelry. But I’m pretty sure, it has a lot more to do with their wonderful sense of humor, their ability to genuine kindness and their closeness to each other.

I had such a good time getting to know Maddy, her mom Tiffany (who by the way is a fantastic instructor at the Dailey Method in Danville!), and her adorable younger sister. Thank you all for spending the day with me.
