Today is the final day in my favorites series and I’m devoting it to all my favorites that I couldn’t squeeze into seven days. Thank you, to all of you, for helping me make 2011 such an amazing and fulfilling year. Here’s to 2012 being wonderful as well!

2011 Favorites | Day 7 | East Bay photographer
January 1, 2012A perfect light | Martinez family photographer
August 30, 2011Basically, Stephanie is one of my favorite people. She is sweet, uber stylish, and hands down one of funniest people I’ve ever met. Not only is her maternity shoot one of my all time favorites, but her husband recently helped me rip Juniper bushes out of my front yard. If that doesn’t rock your socks off, I don’t know what will. Plus, she’s gorgeous and has a great looking family to boot.
I don’t have much to say about this shoot beyond the fact that I just love everything about it. I just uploaded these images and couldn’t wait to put them on the blog. This is only half of her spectacular session. I’m saving the rest of it for another day.
I simply can’t pass up a chance to stare at all of this gorgeous summer light. It makes my heart sing. Stephanie, you absolutely take my breath away.

Fly Away | Walnut Creek photographer
August 26, 2011Trisha is one of my favorite people. Not only is she a blast in a barrel, she’s an incredibly talented event planner. (You can look her up here.) And he didn’t even bat an eye when I asked her to hike up a hill with all of the goodies she brought for her shoot! Between the natural backdrop, the eye-catching accessories and the adorable baby, this shoot was a complete joy to be a part of.
Trisha, thank you for being such a wonderful friend and inspiration.
All grown up | Oakland Child Photographer
July 12, 2011I absolutely love when I get to spend a day with repeat clients. It feels so much more like hanging out with good friends than anything close to actual work. Gabriela and her brood were no exception. I love seeing them! Plus, they let me take them to really great placesand have no problem planting themselves in the dirt for me. (For that, I’m extra grateful!)
For this session, we headed out to the incredibly gorgeous park next to the Berkeley Marina. Hello city views!
Gabriela, thank you for being such a good sport, a wonderful person and an incredibly awesome baby maker. If Dario goes missing, you’ll know where to find him!

A week of favorites | Day 7 | Bay Area Photographer
January 1, 2011The apple orchard | Brentwood family photographer
December 6, 2010After not one, but two rained out sessions, I finally got a chance to shoot two of the most gorgeous girls around. And while I hate to admit it, I think it was worth the wait. I finally got a chance to shoot at the absolutely gorgeous Smith Family Farms and we had some amazing and hazy winter light. I love summer light as much as the next photographer, but catching the ever elusive winter sun just makes me giddy. And we had it in spades for this session.
Everything about this session makes me smile. These girls are not just cute, they’re my cousins! So, I have to admit I may love them just a touch more than I should. And they think I’m funny, so they can’t really do any wrong in my eyes.
Thank you Kim for driving all the way out from Woodland to take a chance on my Orchard.
You know you’re cool when you can crack up your clients. It was a wicked game of “no smiling”. I won.

Lucy and the Bears | Berkeley Family photographer
November 14, 2010Lucy session has been in the works since August. We were rained out not once, but twice and thankfully we could all squeeze in a session on a bright and sunny Saturday afternoon. I later learned that her wedding was supposed to be rained out all those years ago… I’m not sure what Lucy did to incur the wrath of the weather gods, but there has to be something!
As a UC Berkeley Alum, Lucy wanted to head back over the campus for her family photos. I love shooting on college campuses. There is the excitement of the current students, the emotion of those that have already graduated and the history of the campus itself. It’s always magical. (And this session didn’t disappoint!) They may not have a winning football team, but Berkely sure has loyal fans!
Lucy, thank you for showing me around you beloved school. Benjamin was a joy to photograph and you family melts my heart.
