I really do have a problem. I love putting babies into baskets. I should join a help group – or maybe start my own! We can call ourselves Baby Prop Overusers Annoynamous. Ok, so maybe not. But really, how cute is little Karter?

When Ashley first contacted me about family photos – I was so flattered that anyone would travel so far to see me. I can’t say enough how much I love what I do. We had a blast traipsing around Napa to find unique locations. I loved it!

Thank you Ashley for making the long drive out to see me. I had so much fun with you guys and can’t wait until next year! Please bring cake. :)

As a mom of a little boy, I have to admit that I get pretty excited when I get hired to take portraits of little girls.  Please, don’t get me wrong.  I adore my son.  And I’ve managed to snag him some rocking outfits.  But it’s just not the same.  There is no lace.  There are no polka dots.  Heaven forbid anything have ruffles. And would it be horribly and terribly wrong of me to stick a bow in his hair now and again?  **sigh** I’d be willing to pay for any and all resulting therapy, really, I would.

When Toni first contacted me for portraits, we had a few months to come up with a location.  When she ultimately asked to head over to the Martinez Marina after seeing this family, I was so excited.  An adorable little girl, the sunset, AND the water?  Yes please!  Ok, so maybe a free spirited one year old and a vintage pier with out rails wasn’t the BEST idea we had.  But the results sure are fantastic.

Thank you Toni for such a wonderful evening at the Marina.

6 months ago, I walked into a small, but wonderfully decorated home nestled into the Oakland hills with AMAZING light. I was so excited to capture little newborn Dario. I left that day really admiring Gaby and her new family. They seemed so at ease with their needy little bundle of joy. They were relaxed, and giddy with excitement. It was a wonderful experience and I came away with one of my all time favorite images. (That’s little Dario in my slide show at the top of the page!)

Dario’s 6 month pictures may have been even more fun. Gaby, you guys are beautiful. I’m so glad I’ve gotten to know you!

The drive from my house to Palo Alto isn’t all that far. It takes about an hour if there isn’t any traffic. Palo Alto is a gorgeous city. It’s home to Stanford, gorgeous little bungalow homes (With quite a few custom mansions mixed in), there are parks and gardens galore, and my personal favorites – Kara’s Cupcakes and Paper Source. For whatever reason, I don’t make it over there nearly often enough. So when Lindsy asked if we could shoot her maternity session at Gamble Gardens, I jumped at the change to head over to that side of the Bay.

Lindsy’s session was so much fun. The Garden’s have an entire section dedicated to the new seedlings. There were everything from little fruit trees to mini succulents all lined up and waiting to be put into the earth. Logan, Lindsy’s adorable toddler, ran tirelessly up and down the rows yelling “smell, smell”.  It was really the perfect location for all of us.

Lindsy, I can’t wait to meet baby McLeod #2.  I hope he has just as much glorious red hair as Logan.

A big THANK YOU to all of the entries and votes in our facebook contest.  I had so much fun seeing all of your entries.

A big congratulations goes to Johnny (and his mom Amy) for rallying enough votes to win the photo shoot.  I can’t wait for our session.

Ms. Madison and my baby, Grayson, share a birthday. Because of this fact alone, I knew I would like her. I felt like Renee (her mother) and I have a bond. Labor, childbirth, recent first birthday parties…. We totally did those things together! (Even if we weren’t actually together.)  I do also realize that I could just be a stalker wanting people to like me!

We got rained out of our first attempt at shooting Madison’s 1 year portraits, but luckily, we came up with an even better, and even more fun location for the make-up session.  Canyon Creek Ranch.  Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. (And I’m holding myself accountable for taking Grayson there when he is old enough to get on a horse!)

I had a lot of fun with you guys, so thank you Renee and Jason, for being willing to follow me and my crazy antics. I think the photos we got were worth every mud covered shoe!

The new year seems to have brought with it a flood of newborns…and I couldn’t be happier. What other subject would let me bend their sleepy bodies or wrap them in oversized knit hats? (Well, that’s probably for the best!) I just love being around babies.

Little Mia was 11 days of perfection. She tolerated costume changes, location changes, and even a few diaper changes all without making a peep.
