I have to just start by saying there are some people that I just can’t help but love. Sometimes I meet with a client and I’m pretty sure we must have been best friends in a previous life. That’s pretty much how I feel about Weezie.

I met Weezie at Lauren and Dmitriy’s wedding in June and I thought she was a barrel of fun even then. When she contacted me for a maternity session, I basically jumped for joy.  She and her husband wanted relaxed, lifestyle photos in their adorable home in San Francisco and a few sunset images at Crissy field with they equally adorable pup, Lila. (You know I’m a sucker for dogs, right?)  I’m pretty sure we nailed it.

Weezie, thank you for being a blast.  You are adorable and I can’t wait to meet your little girl.

I seem to really be having problems narrowing down my photos. I just can’t pick one. This session is an all time favorite of mine. These two are truly wonderful people, and anyone who has as many dogs, goats and chickens as they do, just deserve some recognition! The cars, the animals and their wonderful personalities just won me over.

Melissa and her husband have a magnificently moving story. She’s a hardworking doctor. He’s a local fireman. Together, they radiate love like crazy.

I was so excited to get a call from Melissa about her maternity photos. Not only did she sound truly sweet and charming, she started off by asking me if it would be ok to include her chickens in her photo shoot. I wouldn’t be lying if I told you that there was some fist pumping going on in the background. Chickens! Maternity photos! To me, that equals a recipe for some amazing photos. Now, imagine my surprise and delight when I showed up to find out that not only were there chickens, but Melissa and her husband had goats. And sheep! And more than a few vintage cars! I was a photographer in heaven. And all I could think of during my time with them was how lucky their little boy is going to be. Imagine growing up with that many animals! And how cool are you when you’re a 13 year old boy and your dad picks you up from school in his classic Cadillac?

Thank you Melissa for such a wonderful session. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you! And I can’t wait to meet you little guy!

Since I don’t think I say it enough, let me say it again. I LOVE what I do. I love the art that I make, and I love the people who surround me making their own version of art. Its inspiring, motivational and exciting to be in the midst of such incredible talent.

This past week I spent a few days in Las Vegas attending the ever popular WPPI convention and trade show. I sat in on some truly moving and informative classes this year. I left with my a new found desire to dust off my film cameras and give that medium a go again. Overall, I feel like a better person and a better artist because of the great community I count myself a part of.

So basically, a big fat group hug to all my fellow photographers. And to all of you non-photographers who inspire us.

Before I headed to Vegas, I had the chance to capture some maternity pictures for someone truly special. Andrea and I met in college and somehow managed to stay out of trouble. She was the shoulder I leaned on through most of Koka’s military deployments. I was there when she met her husband. She was in my wedding. And I will always think of her like a sister. And I can’t wait to meet her little baby girl.

Andrea, you’re stunning.

It always worries me to wake up on a shoot day to drizzle and overcast skies. I love to shoot around the light. But we got lucky on this particular Sunday. The rain cleared and left this romantic hazy fog in it’s wake. I’ve shot in this location multiple times and have never seen the hills so lush and green and full of life.

And really, I’m not sure there could have been a cuter couple to capture in this hazy weather. Aren’t they adorable?

Meredith, thank you for trusting me! I knew those foggy hills would look gorgeous. You and your family were a joy to shoot.

I love toddler smirks. I don’t know if she was more excited by playing peek a boo with me, or eating her goldfish, but I since I got her to smile – I don’t care either way!

Here is to a wonderful and happy 2011!

This session was really a dream to shoot. We had beautiful weather, a gorgeous couple, and whole lot of excitement for baby Brody. Add to that boats, a little wind and a wonderful sunset, and you have all the ingredients for a favorite.

Stephanie and Brad choose this location because they grew up in the area and loved this little pier. I love that. And I love their clear and obvious love for each other.
