Walnut Creek fashion photographer

Do you want to be a model? Do you think you have what it takes to rock a shoot?

Do you love fashion and want to show off your fabulous style?
Then we are looking for you.  This is the contest you’ve been waiting for!

Here’s the deal:

Send a photo of yourself by Monday, May 24th to Meg@megsextonphotography.com. Be sure to include your name, age and what makes you fabulous.

We’ll upload all of the entries to a facebook album titled “Real Life, Real Cute: The search for a Supermodel”. You’ll have from May 25-29 to get the most votes to win. Send that link out to anyone and everyone to get them to “like” your pictures. The pictures with the most votes (Likes) wins! Comments are fabulous, but only “likes” will count towards your voting total.

The rules are simple.

All photos must feature you, and only you.  (No nudity, PLEASE!)  If your mom and your bff are standing next to you, take a new photo!

Photos will be posted as sent, so be sure you send in your favorite.

Voters and contestants must have a facebook account. And you can vote for as many people as you’d like. (Including yourself!) Just tell mom, dad, your sister or your favorite teacher to vote for you.

Winner must be willing to sign a model release.  If you are under 18, your parent or guardian will need to sign it as well.

The winner will get a free session with Meg and an 8×10 print to start off (Or add to!) their modeling portfolio.

It is probably the number one question I get asked. Almost every client, and nearly every shoot.

“What should we wear?”

The truth is, there is no right answer!  Wear what you feel comfortable in.  The goal of custom photography is to tell a story.  Your story, as you are right now.  In this moment.  I would never ask your husband to take off his plaid shirt if that’s what he loves.  Don’t want to wear matching white shirts?  GREAT!  Because I don’t plan on asking you to.

I love variety in my photos.  Your clothes should show who you are.  If you’re a t-shirt and jeans kind of person, by all means, wear them!  If you feel more comfortable in a cowboy hat and heels next to a man in a chicken suit, then that’s your thing and I won’t judge you.  I only ask that you don’t show up in matching shirts.  Be yourself.  Add accessories, I love layers.  Layer your colors and patterns and textures.  I love breaking the rules, and I love irony.   (Think cocktail dress and stilettos at the barn.)  So challenge yourself to be you.

Here are just a couple of ideas to help spur your creativity:

And yes my friends, there is a photographer out there lucky enough to have clients that dressed up in a chicken suit.  If you’d like to see them, check out Tanja Lippert’s blog.  Just know they have been dubbed “The Chicken Suit and the Naked Chick” for a reason!

Kathryn – 2011 Senior

April 7, 2010

Have I mentioned lately that I love shooting High School seniors? I’m not sure that I have, but I do. I love it.

Katherine’s shoot was so much fun. We had the opportunity to wander all over downtown Pleasanton. We found a fabulously retro bridge and frolicked in the wildflowers. (Ok, well K frolicked. I basically sat in the dirt!) I really and truly wish that I had been this “with it” when I was in high school.

You’re beautiful Katherine. I hope someday I get to see you perform!

Are you a high school Junior?  Are you trendy, fun loving or outgoing?  Are you a sports hero?  Or are you just plain cool?  Either way, we want you! We’re looking for fabulous new faces for our first ever Senior Spokesmodel campaign.  Think of it as Meg Sexton’s Top Models – Cycle 1.  You’ll be an original!  We’re looking for 1-2 models from each of the high schools in the East Bay.  There is more too this than fame and glory though – so read on.

What you GET as a spokesmodel:

- Full session (Hear that?  No fee!) unlimited locations and clothing changes. A mini session will be done in April/May and another will be done in the summer.

- Yearbook picture

- 5×5 bound Brag Book

- Online slideshow of your images

- 10 web sized/watermarked images for facebook or email.  (Just leave one as your profile picture through graduation!)

- 50 custom referral cards with your images.  (Use these cards to earn print credits and gift cards!  How awesome is that?)

Speaking of prizes, senior reps (or spokesmodels) can earn:

- $20 Print Credits or 8 wallets for each booked and completed senior session.

OR

Save and combine your referral credits and earn gift cards, movie tickets and even an ipod!

The catch?  There is none! We simply ask for a $100 deposit when you pick up your 5×5 proof book and spokesmodel cards.  This either applies towards your senior picture order or is returned after graduation when you return the proof book.  Win win all around!
