I absolutely adore getting to see my clients year after year. The first time I met Stephanie and her family, she was pregnant with her adorable daughter, Reese. Last year, Reese was barely toddling along. Now, she’s a force of her own and has no problem keeping up with big brother! I just love seeing them grow.

Stephanie, thank you for allowing me to become a part of your family story. I simply can’t wait until next year!

Sometimes I walk away from a session and simply can’t contain my fist pumping, jump for the moon excitement. Last week, I had the pleasure of working with the incredible Kaella of Kaella Lynn Events and Amanda of One True Love Vintage Rentals on a session that basically blew my mind.

I can’t share the whole thing in all it’s wonderfulness just yet, but belive me when I tell you this is something you won’t want to miss!

When Jessica told me that she and her fiance wanted to shoot their engagement session on their sailboat, I almost fell over from excitement. I get so giddy when my clients come to me with ideas, but to get to shoot around water, at sunset and with a gorgeous couple? Heaven.

Jessica, thank you so much for such a wonderful time on your boat. I can’t wait for your Wente wedding this summer!

It was such a pleasure to get to know Jade and her family. I can honestly say that I have never met a child as happy and with a smile as infectious as her little boy. We spent the morning at one of my favorite spots in Oakland and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the results.

Pinterest and my extra 5 pounds | Meg Sexton Photography

I have a love hate relationship with Pinterest. Any website that promotes the collection of creative and mundane things in such a visually appealing way, really captures my attention. I love the creative flow of ideas. I love love the gorgeous visual presentation. And I really, really love all the recipes!

I can’t even tell you how many new things I’ve made simply because someone pinned a gorgeous photo of food. (Corn tortillas with avocado, anyone?) And then there are the desserts. Millions of them. With gorgeous imagery and even more appealing names. (How about these gorgeous and colorful Macaron’s, for example.)

So after all that, what is it I hate about Pinterest? Well, the extra 5 pounds I’ve gained that I blame entirely on the fantastic food plastered all over their website. I can’t be held accountable for my lack of self control around that much temptation.

Take for example the banana bread I made this week. Not just one loaf, because that would be dull and ordinary. I had to make two.

In an effort to share more of my personal work, I’m branching out. I’m thinking of starting a new blog feature. You all have to know by now that commitment scares me. (We all remember my failed attempt at a 52 week project, right?) But I’m going to do my best to commit to this! Fridays will become a day for a glimpse into what I’m shooting for ME. A day for me to share just a bit more of myself to all of you.

For today, I’m sharing a film capture from one of my favorite sessions of last year. I don’t shoot much film for my clients because I don’t feel 100% comfortable nailing the technicalities of the medium, but I love bringing my Contax with me and seeing what I can come up with for my own portfolio. This image was scanned sharpened for the web. That’s it. No retouching. No editing for color. It just is. And I love it. (You can see the digital images from Maddy’s session here.)

My poor lonely blog! So many things are in the works right now, I haven’t even had a moment to post a wonderful maternity session from last month. I would apologize, but I’m just so excited about some of the things to come. I promise to post more info soon!

Meanwhile, I just can’t help but share this lovely session I shot in San Francisco last month. Jenn and her husband were so much fun to be around. I’m pretty sure I laughed so hard I cried at one point! Plus, I love any client willing to tresspass with me.

Senior Spokesmodel Campaign | High School Senior photographer

It’s back, and it’s better than ever before! This year, the 2013 spokesmodel campaign is like no other. Have you always wanted to model or be a part of a magazine style photo shoot? Now is your chance! Meg Sexton Photography is now searching for models from East Bay California high schools to participate in a day of editorial style photo shoots at the end of April.

The rules for this program are simple:

- We’re looking for at least one person from each of the East Bay High Schools – hopefully a boy and a girl!
(Acalanes, Carondelet, California, Campolindo, Clayton Valley, De La Salle, Dougherty, Dublin, Foothill, Los Lomas, Miramonte, Monte Vista, Northgate and San Ramon)
- We want people who are fun to be around, energetic and great role models
- There is NO COST to participate as a spokesmodel (That’s right, it is 100% free. Prints and additional products can all be purchased separately)
- Applications are being accepted only until March 16th. So get those applications in NOW to be considered

What you GET as a spokesmodel:

- A fun filled editorial session with other amazing high school Juniors from around the Bay Area. Access to a makeup artist, stylist and all the typical model pampering.

The last time I met up with this family, amazing things happened. So I was beyond thrilled to hear that not only were they expecting again, but they wanted me to shoot another year of photos. It really is amazing to spend so much time with my clients and see their children and families grow. I just love it.

Sunset at the Golden Gate | San Francisco Photographer

I have to just start by saying there are some people that I just can’t help but love. Sometimes I meet with a client and I’m pretty sure we must have been best friends in a previous life. That’s pretty much how I feel about Weezie.

I met Weezie at Lauren and Dmitriy’s wedding in June and I thought she was a barrel of fun even then. When she contacted me for a maternity session, I basically jumped for joy. She and her husband wanted relaxed, lifestyle photos in their adorable home in San Francisco and a few sunset images at Crissy field with they equally adorable pup, Lila. (You know I’m a sucker for dogs, right?) I’m pretty sure we nailed it.

Weezie, thank you for being a blast. You are adorable and I can’t wait to meet your little girl.

Did I mention they live in a ridiculously cute neighborhood? Ya, they do.
