I was so excited to see Stephanie and her family again. The last time we met little Reese was still snuggling up in mama’s belly. Now, she’s a cute as can be baby with a big personality.

Stephanie, I had a blast wondering the hills with you and your little ones. I can’t wait to see you again later this year!

Since I don’t think I say it enough, let me say it again. I LOVE what I do. I love the art that I make, and I love the people who surround me making their own version of art. Its inspiring, motivational and exciting to be in the midst of such incredible talent.

This past week I spent a few days in Las Vegas attending the ever popular WPPI convention and trade show. I sat in on some truly moving and informative classes this year. I left with my a new found desire to dust off my film cameras and give that medium a go again. Overall, I feel like a better person and a better artist because of the great community I count myself a part of.

So basically, a big fat group hug to all my fellow photographers. And to all of you non-photographers who inspire us.

Before I headed to Vegas, I had the chance to capture some maternity pictures for someone truly special. Andrea and I met in college and somehow managed to stay out of trouble. She was the shoulder I leaned on through most of Koka’s military deployments. I was there when she met her husband. She was in my wedding. And I will always think of her like a sister. And I can’t wait to meet her little baby girl.

Andrea, you’re stunning.

In my opinion, Mike may be one of the most romantic husbands around. He contacted me at the end of last year. His wife was pregnant with their first child and he wanted to surprise her with something special for Christmas. I LOVE it. I’m a big fan of gifts in general, but I was tickled to be a part of one.

6 days after little Quinn made her debut I headed out to the Oakland Hills to capture her lovely images. Mike and Jenny were expecting some calm, sleepy baby shots, but Quinn absolutely had other ideas. She was awake and feisty for the entire 3 and half hours I spent with her. Watch out Mike, I’m pretty sure Quinn won’t ever have a problem speaking her mind.

I love how much of her big personality we were able to capture.

There is something about a photo of crying babies that just melts my heart.  I promise we picked little Quinn up as soon as I snapped this capture.

I love every second of what I do.  And sometimes, I’m lucky enough to shoot something for no reason other than it inspires me.  Just because I like it.  I’m currently looking for 3-5 dancers to help me create some amazing images in the next 5 weeks.

What is lifestyle photography? That’s a question I get every so often and I don’t really have the right words to explain. I can say that lifestyle photography is an anything goes kind of session. Or that it’s unposed and real. But those words don’t always makes sense. Lifestyle photography is about raw emotions. It’s about being true to yourself and honestly, just having fun.

You may remember Lindsy from one of my favorite maternity sessions. But her newborn session takes the cake. Lindsy’s newborn session was the epitome of lifestyle. We played guitars, we jumped on the bed, and we made wooden food taste good in a wooden kitchen. I felt so honored to be there, simply watching a family love each other. There was no pressure. It was a blast.

Thank you Lindsy for opening up your home to me. Your boys are as cute as can be.

Nothing like a little father/son jam session in the bedroom. It’s a rock band in the making!

Erin may be the funniest person I know. Seriously. And she’s a hitter. So if she’s telling a joke, either brace for the punch line impact, or get out of her way! And that cracks me up even more. I don’t think I’ve ever spend any other hour of my life laughing as hard as I did at their session.

Now Jackie, at 2 and a half is pretty much just adorable. She thought the chickens were her new BFFs. And she wanted to tell me all about Thomas the Train. It’s a good thing I’m well versed in the Tank Engine and his many, many friends.

Thank you Erin for being up at the crack of dawn to meet me. I’m so glad we missed the rain!
