One of my absolute favorite things about becoming a photographer is capturing newborns.  Since having my son and really understanding how quickly those first few days/weeks/months truly go, I just cherish getting to spend time with brand new babies.  I love seeing their flaking new skin, the tiny tiny hands and feet and just seeing how amazing these little humans are.  When my good friend Jenni asked me to take pictures of her baby Blythe, I was not only flattered, I was excited!

Jenni and her husband have wanted a baby for a long time and little baby B is just perfect.  It melts my heart to see them with her.

Here are just a few shots of little baby Blythe sleeping peacefully.  She couldn’t have been a better baby!

This dress was special to Jenni, so we took a few shots of it.  I thought Blythe looked so cute!

From the moment Ari pulled Cameron out of the car, I knew I was in for it.  I’m now 100% positive that if you pull out your dictionary and flip to the “S” section, you’ll find a picture of this little guy right next to the word, “Spitfire”.  I truly don’t think there is a more perfect example than Cameron.  I had so much fun at this shoot chasing after him, learning the proper way to wield a stick as a sword and the fastest way to scale a fallen tree branch.  I did find a few knots in my stomach at the thought of my sweet little Grayson adopting Cameron’s style in a few short months, but if he’s as sweet as Cameron in the process, than I can’t complain!

Isn’t C just too sweet?

What do ruined Thanksgivings dinners have in common with photoshoots? Ok, honestly not much, but J and I did spend a good 15 minutes comparing war stories about the food holiday. And it was hilarious. (Is there anything funnier than forgotten innards?  I think not.)  I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I love my clients. They crack me up! I have a mush 13 year old girl crush on all of them.

I was lucky enough to get a SECOND chance to shoot little miss Charlotte right after her first birthday.  She has always been a doll and now that she’s all over the place, I’m pretty sure she’s even cuter.  She’s so curious!  And happy to get into anything she could find.

Thank you D family for letting me drag you around San Francisco – and even braving the Chinatown grounds!  I had a blast.

When I planned these sessions, I stuck an early slot in there genuinely thinking that I’d have to beg and plead someone to get up that early on a cold fall morning.  Thankfully I never had to do that! Alison jumped on the chance to join me at 8am.  I was so pumped to have such and awesome family to shoot first thing.  And don’t let the pleasant smiles fool you, these three are hilarious.

Here is just a quick sneak peak from the mini session:

Thank you Alison for being just a little bit crazy and meeting me so early in the morning!

There is just something about a baby with a full head of hair. Especially a baby with CURLY hair.  It’s just too cute.  This little guy had not only a full head of hair, but a sparkling personality.

This family was so much fun to capture. (And the drove all the way down from Vacaville to see me!) We spent some time wandering around Hap MaGee Park in Danville and just found some of the most fun little niches to photograph.  Dad kept joking about his inability to relax in front of the camera, but I think, just maybe, that we made it happen. And just like I promised, he’s on the website. :)

Thank you again for letting me spend some time with you guys.  And congratulations on your new home!

All too often I’m reminded that I have the best job in the world. Yes, I’m a photographer, but I’m also a mother. I have a son who loves me, depends on me, and will some day cherish me. I’m so incredibly lucky to have him in my life. I’m so incredibly blessed to be able to see him grow. To learn. To experience life.

Thank you Grayson for reminding me why it is that I love taking photos. Thank you for pushing me to always remember that a lifetime is full of todays and that every one is worth remembering.

So, I finally made it through all of the photos from this session. I’ve been trying to figure out which photos to post for the last day or so because there are just so many great ones.

Jessica and her little family were just too cute. AND they were troopers. They trekked all the way to a junky railroad drop off to indulge my interest in a little teal shack. I made them wade though random rubbage and weeds and Jessica is horribly afraid of snakes! She didn’t complain once.

Thank you W family for spending a Saturday with me.
